Given that there are plenty of services that target the user and what they
are doing, it seemed logical that there would be a service that tracked who is talking
about what. There are services that do a little in this area, but typically they fall
short in being a true conversation tracker. Technorati tracks the blogs that talk about
other blogs, but miss the comment streams on Digg or Disqus. FriendFeed tracks
what you and your friends are doing, but does not link stories together.

Why do comments from my blog not appear?
WordPress blogs have a default comment feed at the regular URL + "feed/". Typepad and Movable Type
blogs have a default comment feed at the regular url + "/comments/atom.xml". Blogger and Blogspot blogs are
a little more difficult to get the comments for a post given the APIs available. In general, our first
level of blog support is for the default comment location which can typically be changed or turned off.
If you feel we are in error, just send us an email at support@yacktrack.com with the url you are searching
for and what you think should be happening. If you know that your comment feed is in a different location,
then include that in the email as well.
Why do you not support my other favorite service?
Service support is growing continuously. However, there are various issues with supporting
a service. Many services do not provide adequate means to grab the comments for a story/article/post.
Typically, we would require an API to acquire the comments feed. If this is not possible, we would then need
to get an RSS feed for the comments. We do not want to "screen scrape" any service as that method is
prone to many issues. If you want a new service supported, contact your service provider and request that
they provide an RSS feed for the comments. If you think that the service does provide an RSS comment feed,
then just send us an email at support@yacktrack.com with the service and an example url for the RSS feed.
Why does a feedburner url not result in comments?
Feedburner urls (i.e. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/ouseful/~3/269953025/014244.html)
are technically redirections so they do not really point to the source post. This would also be true of
URL shortening services like TinyUrl or is.gd that essentially just redirect their URLs to the source.
Currently, YackTrack does not support redirection URLs, but it should be available soon. The other problem
is that the source services may actually store the comments with the Feedburner URL and the search results
are somewhat inconsistent at this time. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I am actively working
on resolving the issue.
Does YackTrack have an API to get the comments programmatically?
YackTrack does have an API. There is an extended RSS format and a JSON format. The documentation
for version 1.0 of the API can be found
here
. This is the first version of the API, and
there should be modifications to it in the coming releases.
But you did not answer my question!
